The Port of Tacoma launched a mobile-friendly website with enhanced capabilities this month, after 20 years of becoming the first U.S. port to set up a presence on the World Wide Web. The website, at www.portoftacoma.com, has undergone a number of upgrades since its 1995 launch to take advantage of advancing technology. This latest version features interactive maps and databases of facilities, supply chain service providers and available properties, as well as sharper search capabilities.
It continues to provide access to commission meetings streamed live and subscriptions to news, job announcements, cargo statistics, contract opportunities and more. Find the full list of available topics at www.portoftacoma.com/subscribe.
The Port also engages customers and community members through social media on Facebook at www.facebook.com/portoftacoma, Twitter at www.twitter.com/portoftacoma, YouTube at www.youtube/PortTacoma and Flickr at www.flickr.com/portoftacoma.
The Port of Tacoma is an economic engine for South Puget Sound, with more than 43,000 family-wage jobs in Pierce County and 113,000 jobs across Washington state connected to Port activities. A major gateway to Asia and Alaska, the Port of Tacoma is among the largest container ports in North America. The Port is also a major center for bulk, breakbulk and project/heavy-lift cargoes, as well as automobiles and trucks.
